Mabry & McClelland, LLP is very excited to announce that we recently participated in a public service drive for the Atlanta Day Shelter for Women and Children sponsored by the Georgia Defense Lawyers Association (GDLA).
The Atlanta Day Shelter for Women and Children provides services for homeless mothers and their children including daycare, showers, laundry, medical care, life-skills classes, and so much more. Their mission is to help women and children get back on their feet and break away from homelessness.
Our firm pledged to provide the Atlanta Day Shelter with specific items of need and reached our goal in less than 48 hours!
This incredible achievement was made possible through the leadership of Dawn Pettigrew, an associate with our firm. After receiving an email from GDLA, Ms. Pettigrew brought this fundraiser to our Managing Partner who approved the project and committed the firm would give a matching contribution. Ms. Pettigrew then organized the drive as well as drove the firm and staff participation.
After contacting the shelter directly to find out what they needed, Ms. Pettigrew volunteered to spearhead the donation campaign. She made special gift packages of food items and gift cards for groceries, clothing, transportation, and more.
Ms. Pettigrew is a strong supporter of the shelter’s mission and was familiar with their parent organization, Atlanta Mission, a charity dedicated to ending homelessness.
GDLA Executive Director Jennifer Davis was thrilled by Ms. Pettigrew’s efforts. Ms. Davis was especially excited about Sr. Partner Walter McClelland’s personal matching donation and very pleased that the goal of the firm was not only reached, but exceeded.
Ms. Pettigrew says she will continue to do more for both GDLA’s fundraising program and the Atlanta Mission. This is only the first of many fundraisers to come! Ms. Pettigrew also noted that the shelter has recently constructed a new facility to better serve the local community, and they will accept any donations to help people in need.
